Therefore, we offer an online extension of our Heart and Vascular registered dietitian's expertise through Cleveland Clinic's MyConsult Online Nutrition Counseling service. This program is a convenient online nutrition program that connects you to a Cleveland Clinic Heart and Vascular Institute registered dietitian who will develop a personalized, comprehensive nutrition program based on your unique requirements. After you answer a series of simple questions, our nutritionist will review your needs, help you establish realistic goals, and offer you the right combination of healthy eating changes, meal planning tips, access to our Cleveland Clinic Health Information Center, and nutrition tips to start you on your way to a healthier future.


Weight Management:  Whether your goal is to lose, maintain or gain weight – this is the program for you!

Conditions Included: Weight Gain, Weight Loss, Weight Maintenance.

Multiple sessions with a Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian will include a comprehensive assessment of your individual caloric needs, sample menu plan using your dietary preferences, and food diary to keep track of your caloric intake. A host of additional tips and suggestions will be provided to help you successfully achieve your weight goals. (3 Sessions for $195)


Diabetes and Related Conditions  Whether you have or are at-risk for developing diabetes, our experienced dietitians will provide you with the right tools to help you on the road to successful blood sugar control and a reduced risk of long-term diabetes complications

Conditions Included: Type 1 or 2 DM; Pre-Diabetes

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes then this program applies to you. Multiple sessions with a Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian will include a comprehensive nutritional assessment based on your individual needs. The overall goal of this program is to help you gain control of your blood sugars and reduce your overall risk of diabetes-related complications. (3 Sessions for $195)


Cholesterol-Related Issues and Other Heart Disease Risk Factors  If you have high total or LDL-cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol), low HDL-cholesterol ("good" cholesterol), high triglycerides (blood fats), gout, or a combination of these risk factors then let our experienced registered dieticians help you make the right dietary changes to reduce your risk for heart disease.

Conditions Included: High Total & LDL Cholesterol; Low HDL Cholesterol; High Triglycerides; Metabolic Syndrome; High Homocysteine Levels; Gout.

Total, LDL & HDL Cholesterol: If you have been diagnosed with elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, also referred to as "bad" cholesterol) or low HDL-cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, also referred to as "good" cholesterol) then we can help. This program includes multiple individualized dietary sessions with a Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian, incorporating the most up-to-date research findings on the therapeutic role of foods on lowering cholesterol and preventing heart disease. We'll offer practical, research-backed dietary advice to suit your heart-health goals. (2 Sessions for $165)

High Triglycerides: High blood triglyceride levels contribute to an increased risk for heart disease. If you have a triglyceride level over 150 mg/dl or have been told you have elevated triglycerides, let us create a personalized nutrition plan for you. Individualized sessions with our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian incorporate a comprehensive assessment of your individual caloric needs, sample menu plan using your dietary preferences, and food and activity diaries to keep track of your progress. A host of additional tips and suggestions will be provided to help you successfully achieve your heart-health goals. (2 Sessions for $165)

Metabolic Syndrome: If you have been told you have Metabolic Syndrome by your doctor or if you have any 3 of these 5 characteristics that make up the Metabolic Syndrome (abdominal obesity {men with a waist circumference greater than 40 inches; women with a waist circumference greater than 35 inches}; elevated Triglycerides {greater than 150mg/dl}; low HDL {men: less than 40mg/dl; women: less than 50mg/dl}; high blood pressure {³ 130/³ 85mm Hg}; Elevated fasting glucose {³ 110mg/dl}) then we recommend you seek the help of Cleveland Clinic's highly trained registered dietitians to provide you with a comprehensive assessment of your individual caloric needs, a sample menu plan using your dietary preferences, and a food diary to keep track of your progress. (3 Sessions for $195)

Gout: If you have been diagnosed with gout and would like more information on how specific foods affect your symptoms, join our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian for an individualized and informative nutrition session, which include tips and suggestions centered on your specific dietary preferences. (1 Session for $95)


High Blood Pressure   If you are struggling to control your high blood pressure.

Conditions Included: High Blood Pressure; Hypertension.

Sessions with our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian includes the most up-to-date dietary and lifestyle recommendations aimed to help you lower your blood pressure. We will center our nutrition recommendations to your individual needs and preferences and will provide practical tips and suggestions on how to implement these guidelines. (2 Sessions for $165)


Heart Disease: If you have a history of heart disease or heart failure – let our experienced Cleveland Clinic registered dietitians provide you with individualized nutritional goals to reduce your risk of complications and future events.

General Secondary Prevention Guidelines

Research indicates that diet plays a significant role in reducing a second occurrence of coronary disease. Let our skilled and experience registered dieticians provide you with the latest nutrition guidelines to reduce your risk for a second coronary event. (2 sessions for $165).

Very Low-Fat Diets/Reversal Diet Plan (Ornish): In a few small trials, a very-low-fat diet (also called the reversal diet plan) has shown to help with regression of coronary atherosclerosis. This diet is recommended only to those with known coronary disease willing to make significant dietary and lifestyle changes. The reversal diet plan includes very-low-fat dietary patterns and includes multiple sessions with our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian. As always, our recommendations are highly individualized and centered on your dietary preferences. Please note: Cleveland Clinic cannot guarantee you will experience regression of coronary atherosclerosis. (2 Sessions for $165)

Heart Failure: If you have been diagnosed with heart failure let our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian guide you towards optimal eating to reduce complications. This program includes multiple sessions with the dietitian, who will cater nutrition recommendations to your specific dietary preferences. (2 Sessions for $165)


Questions Related to Drug-Nutrient Interactions and Cardiovascular-Related Supplement Use.

Conditions Included: General CV Supplement or Herbal use; Vitamin K and Coumadin Interactions.

Vitamin K and Coumadin: Are you cautious of eating dark leafy greens while on Coumadin? Not sure of how your diet affects Coumadin therapy? Join our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitian for an informative nutrition session on how to best handle vitamin K-rich foods while on Coumadin therapy. We will cater our nutrition recommendations to your specific dietary preferences and will provide practical tips and suggestions. (1 Session $95)..

Cardiovascular-related Supplement or Herbal Use: If you currently take any supplement or herbal as a means to reduce or alleviate your heart-disease risk, we highly recommend you seek the advice from our Cleveland Clinic registered dietitians to review the latest research findings on the role these supplements play in health and heart-disease risk. It is best to be informed -- don't increase your risk for potential adverse effects of supplement use without joining our dietitian for one informative session outlining the latest research findings. We will review your supplement use, medication use, and diet to avoid any potential drug-nutrient interactions. (1 Session for $95)
